Ring of Fire

By | November 12, 2015

I can’t remember the last time a new pilot was looking for an audience, so here’s Ring of Fire filming at ITV Towers on 22nd November:

Pitting families against one another testing their physical & mental challenges, Ring of Fire is the pilot for a brand new game show. The Twist? None of the families know how well anyone else did at each game meaning it all centres around their ability to bluff.

A tense and thrilling game show filming November 22nd at London Studios on the Southbank Ring of Fire is set to be the next big thing.

The next big thing. Tickets here (Applause Store) if you’re interested.

The Mole Celebs in The Netherlands returns 2nd of January, meaning it will be moved to Saturdays… Quite remarkable as it has been the number one show for years on Thursday, destroying competition and really feels like a show you need to watch on a work-day to talk the next day with colleagues and friends. Really really interesting, especially how competition (mainly RTL) will respond on the biggest night of the week.

Funny enough, they did an elimination presentation on Amsterdam’s big Dam Square, where 11 celebrities took the test on a laptop, and one celebrity got the red screen and was eliminated. Also, the first location was announced: the Dominican Republic.

    As for the candidates:

Airen – upcoming, young host from SBS6. Not fairly well-known nor liked much, mainly hosting an entertainment filled news show late night.

Annemieke – radio host of the younger aimed station 3FM, fairly well-known, a ‘one of the guys’ kinda girl.

Cecile – the former editor-in-chief from a Dutch fashion magazine like Vogue, fashion expert in magazines and in talkshows.

Ellie – the spokesperson of the police in Amsterdam and on the TV show “wanted” for many years

Klaas – host on TV, mainly for the recent years in younger aimed shows. Comparable to Pepijn from a couple of years back(2011)

Marjolein – perhaps the biggest name of the bunch, a very well known actress, especially from the soap opera Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden.

Remy – musician, more specific a harp player. I would say completely unknown with the main audience.

Rop – an actor, also a character in Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden, but more in theatre and musicals.

Taeke – a former hockey player, has won all the big championships with the national team including the olympics as a captain

Tim – a young, upcoming host from the public broadcaster, does a lot of shows, very well known with the ‘millenials’.

Apparently 1-1.5m behemoth Play to the Whistle has been recommissioned, Broadcast suggests.

What are they expecting to happen the second time? Was it only watched exclusively by males in their 20s? What?

It looks like Benchmark may have been pulled for a second time after today’s scheduled episode was replaced by A Place In The Sun and the Channel 4 website suggests the same for the whole of next week – just a couple of middle-of-the-night repeats for the next week or so

Benchamark really really really isn’t the worst show that’s ever been broadcast by some considerable distance, but I’d be lying if I said I’m not finding this all mildly amusing at this point.

Agreed – we’ve explored some issues with it in the past, here, but it’s essentially pretty competent and far from terrible

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: There is one issue with Benchmark, and only one. Its length. Remove the chat, chop it into a half-hour show, and it’ll work.

    Hello all,

Saw an ad on the net about a new game show casting here on my side of the pond and in my backyard – it seems familiar (some kind of show in the UK) but I can’t quite place it.

“Are you good at guessing the price of real estate? How about luxury items like cars, vintage heirlooms and art? Well you might just be eligible to be on a new real estate price guessing game show. Be involved with touring luxury homes in order to guess their worth, take a look at unique items and guess how much. You and a teammate could end up with cash prizes if you’re on the money.”

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

In other news The Money Pit started on Dave a fortnight ago, I had no idea. It’s Crowdfunding Dragon’s Den with Jason Manford basically, but apparently a bit gamier than that sounds. I will catch-up over the weekend and prob. do a Show Discussion post on Monday.

Pretty amazed that this has slipped out pretty unannounced actually, normally there’d be an advert or production people would bang on about it on Twitter or something, but nothing.

With some annoying catchphrases coming up lately (i.e. in Freeze Out), I just want to propose to have a vote for the most iconic catchphrase included in the poll of 2015.
